General Summary:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for exploring new business opportunities with Telco OEMs like Huawei, Alacatel Shanghai Bell, Ericsson, ZTE etc. The responsibilities can be broken down into the following phases: initial market analysis, development of CTV strategy, analysis of partnership options (acquisition, JV, or supply agreement, for example), development of integration plan, and execution of sales or partnership deals.

Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions):

Market Analysis
Assess the attractiveness of the target product or market segment by analyzing:
Customer needs – perform market research as needed
Competitive environment – determine market share and strengths/weaknesses of each competitor along with pricing and product/service differentiation
Supply chain – identify key inputs and assess overall supply chain
Identify barriers to entry and possibility of substitute technology
Determine market size and addressable opportunity

Development of Strategy
Work with a cross-functional team to determine the appropriate positioning in the market, including:
Product portfolio and service offering
Pricing strategy
Channel to market (distribution, agents, OEM, or direct sales)
Target customers

Analysis of Partnership Options
Work with cross-functional team and make recommendation to the Business Team on the appropriate partnership for entering market, including:
Analysis of potential targets
Target valuations (multiple methods)
Integration plan and identification of significant opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reductions

Execution of Deal
Work with corporate finance and legal, as well as outside groups, such as investment bankers and consultants, on the execution of the deal. Activities may include development of presentations for upper management and board of directors, as well as participating in due diligence.

Integration and Incubation Phase
The BD Manager, APAC will be responsible for managing the business through the initial phase of operation. This includes managing the marketing plan, including pricing, and other critical functions necessary to ensure the business becomes a viable endeavor.

Job Specifications:

A Bachelors degree is required, preferably with a major in business or engineering. An MBA or a minimum of five years experience in sales or business development with an emphasis on telecommunications [hardware] is required. Candidate must be proficient at market research (preferences/trends), possess excellent analytical ability, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Also will ideally have min. two years experience in channel development including the entire channel enablement process which includes channel partner identification/selection, signing-up the partner, training, and functions leading to the generation of product sales. Candidate must also be highly self-motivated and proficient with business-related software. Position requires 40-50% travel.
