Purpose of the job
The position is responsible for being the bridge between Xiamen & HQ fabric teams. Using the knowledge to help relevant departments to fulfill fabric tasks
Tasks & responsibilities
1. Assist sample room with technical knowhow (fabric, fournituren, haberdashery, ….)
2. Assist sourcing department with technical knowhow
3. Assist fabric engineer HQ with technical knowhow
4. Supply requested samples from fabric engineer HQ (PP-list).
5. Assist project manager in setting up pilot run for fabrics (ordering, planning, quantity, check, quality).
6. Communication window of fabric engineer HQ
7. Documentation of testing results, reference samples, standards reports, specifications, …. etc)
8. Make fabric BOM, drawings and specifications
Background & job requirements
1. knowledge and experience in textile production process
a) Patrons
b) sewing,
c) cutting,
d) labels
2.Good fabric material knowledge.
a) mechanical,
Different weaves techniques.
Yarn/thread specification.
material property (strength, moisture, tear, pilling, … etc)
mechanical finishing (brushing, twisting, … etc)
b) chemical specifications
coatings (water repellant, fire retardant, … etc)
coatings techniques (spraying, jigger, … etc)
dye chemicals
c) Good knowledge in fabric testing, and familiar with safety regulations.
Testing methods (pilling, strength, tear, … etc)
Testing/safety requirements (EN71, REACH, ASTM… etc)
d) Good knowledge in printing techniques.
Different print methods (screen-print, digital print, heat transfer, …. etc)
e) Good knowledge in coloring techniques.
dyes methods (piece dyed, yarn dyed, sprayed, … etc)
3. Overall
a) Good team worker.
b) Pro-active approach.
c) Good communicative English in written and spoken.
d) Enough experience in fabric industry (at least 5 years)
4.Nice to have
a) experience in fabric sourcing
b) Good network or able to expand networking with fabric suppliers
c) Good communicative Dutch in written and spoken is a plus
