Job details Purpose of the job
The Director Quality Assurance (QA) has the final responsibility for product quality for products delivered from the Asian supply chain to bugaboo international. The role reports to the Managing Director of Operations Asia and has technical and strategic reporting lines to the Corporate Quality Director.

The key business processes where the DQA takes a lead role are Quality Management System, New Product Development and Product Maintenance. A key part of the role’s responsibility is to ensure that the Asian part of these processes are continuously improved and well documented.

Tasks & responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a quality improvement roadmap based on corporate quality strategy and business objectives.
a) Develop a three-year quality improvement strategic plan describing objectives, resources needed and key milestones.
b) Evaluate organisational structure requirements to deliver required improvements.
c) Develop KPIs for Quality Assurance in line with corporate strategy, CQD and Asia Operations management team.
2. Take ownership, report and improve operational and financial results of the department
a) Drive the execution of the QA plan.
b) Deliver significant benefits to improving product quality, reliability of supply and innovation at the same time
3. Take ownership of the QA improvement program and deliver improvements as agreed with stakeholders.
a) Setup QA program consisting of projects aiming at increased quality of products, processes and organizations leading to higher overall quality performance
b) Pro-actively gather ideas and suggestions from the business
c) Design and implement appropriate tools to measure, improve and control quality.

5. Secure interdepartmental communication
a) Create and optimize alignment between departments by establishing formal meetings and inter personal linkages and embed in the business processes.
6. Organize, manage, optimize and innovate the department’s organization and its processes
a) Improve and innovate processes by periodic evaluation of effectiveness and propose improvements to Managing Director Asia Operations, CQD and management team

Background & job requirements
1. Academic background
a) An honours degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related subject
b) A recognized qualification in Quality Management
c) An MBA would also be considered as a useful asset.
2. Experience
a) Minimum 5 years of management experience
b) Minimum 8 years of Total Quality Management experience
c) Minimum 5 years of working experience in mainland China together with direct work experience for a western industrial organization for a minimum of 3 years.
3. Personal skills
a) In depth knowledge of Quality management systems including but not limited to ISO9000, LEAN, Six Sigma, QFD and TQM
b) Inspirational leader to build the quality mindset across the Asian organisation.
c) Pro-active, hands-on manager with the ability to deliver results
d) Creative, innovative problem-solver
e) Good understanding of Chinese business culture
4. Language skills
a) Proficiency in English (written and oral)
b) Proficiency in Mandarin preferred
5. PC skills
a) Experience in working with Excel, PowerPoint and Word
b) Profound knowledge / experience with planning, budgeting, business intelligence and ERP systems
