We are looking for excellent foreign and local lawyers with corporate skills for our clients Beijing and Shanghai offices.
Applicants who are foreign lawyers should have at least 2-4 years' practice experience from leading firms in either a commonwealth jurisdiction or in the US. Applicants who are local lawyers should have at least 18 months' practice experience with leading local or international firms in the PRC.

Our client is a UK Magic Circle firm, and has been active in China since the founding of their Hong Kong office in 1980, followed by their Beijing office in 1985 and Shanghai in 1993. They now have over 40 bi-lingual lawyers in mainland China with more than 30 who are PRC trained and 10 foreign lawyers. They have a broad range of experience in all areas of finance, corporate, capital markets, litigation and arbitration in both their Beijing and Shanghai offices. Their mainland offices share the same management and are fully integrated.
Foreign Lawyers
Their Beijing and Shanghai offices have vacancies for mid-level international lawyers with a background in corporate transactional and advisory work.
Relevant corporate experience in M&A and joint ventures is essential. Some exposure to private equity and commercial contracts is preferred. Fluency in oral Mandarin is essential and ability to read/write Mandarin is preferred. Practice experience in the PRC is not required.
Candidates should have the following qualifications and skills:
- excellent academics
- a minimum of 3-4 years' practice experience at a top-tier firm in a common law jurisdiction (such as England & Wales, Australia, New Zealand and Canada) or in the US
- fluent oral mandarin (reading/writing ability preferred)
- first rate communication skills
- a pragmatic, logical and commercial approach
- ability to mix culturally and an outgoing personality.
PRC Lawyers
Their Beijing and Shanghai offices have vacancies for mid-level PRC lawyers with a background in corporate transactional and/or advisory work. Applicants must have passed the PRC bar. A foreign qualification/education is not required.
Relevant experience in joint ventures and foreign direct investment is essential. M&A and commercial contracts experience is an advantage. Some exposure to real estate and employment is helpful.
Candidates should have the following qualifications and skills:
- excellent academics from leading PRC universities
- a minimum of 18 months' practice experience at either top-tier local firms or leading international firms in the PRC
- excellent standard of written and spoken English
- a pragmatic, logical and commercial approach
- ability to mix culturally and an outgoing personality.
