The team is responsible for providing an end to end service for Investment Banking clients - application developers and the business. As such, Investment Banking Divisional Systems (IBDS) provides all server, database, desktop, web and market data services support for the Investment Banking business. The group also represents Investment Bank (IB) interests across the various enterprise technology groups, such as networking, storage and email.
DEPARTMENTAL OVERVIEW
- The Systems Integration team is a group of technologists within
IBDS with expertise in key infrastructure areas Windows
server & desktop, UNIX, Database, Networks, Web Services -
and strong general IT knowledge.
- The team acts as an authoritative system design group for the
whole of IBDS and covers 5 main areas - technical
understanding of the infrastructure technology supporting our
key applications; supporting the Application Development book
of work; maintaining technical relationships between
infrastructure teams; technical relationships with application
developers; technical coordination of critical infrastructure
performance issues.
- Each team member has a high level of interaction with
developers, engineering, support managers, members of the
IBDS team and the business.
- Projects are assigned to team members based on application
development group involved, as each System Integration (SI)
technician faces off to a particular development group, via the
Delivery Management function.
- There is also a high level of interaction within the team.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
- The Systems Integration Specialist will be responsible for
technical management and coordination of issues and projects
primarily involving server, database and presentation layer
technologies, and working closely with the other team members
to provide understanding across all infrastructure components
of a system.
- The specialist should be a recognized expert in Linux
technologies, with associated hardware, and an interest in
improving their understanding of other technical areas; strong
communication and presentation skills are essential.
- The role is an excellent opportunity to work alongside business
and development managers across the Firm, to learn the
portfolio of business applications and to play a key part in the
design and rollout of future infrastructure solutions.
Essential Skill sets:
- Graduate degree in Computer Science or Business/Finance,
Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or closely related
disciplines
- Experience of working in an Investment Bank or similar financial
services environment managing a team supporting or
engineering Windows deployments.
- Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication
skills, be extremely self-motivated, be able to work with minimal
guidance and have the ability to own problems through to
resolution.
- Experience of Team Leadership
- At least 5 years Windows or UNIX Support or Engineering
- Thorough knowledge of Server clustering and other associated
enterprise technologies
- Experience of blade server technologies (IBM, HP, Egenera)
- Thorough knowledge of Windows O/S or Solaris/Linux O/S
- Strong knowledge of EMC SAN technologies and storage
replication
- Knowledge of capacity planning and utilization techniques
- Excellent TCP/IP networking skills
Desirable Skill sets:
- Experience of managing multiple-discipline projects
- Database knowledge
- Knowledge of Perl/scripting, Solaris Zones, Virtualization
